Call for Programs: 2nd Female Composers' Festival

Spectrum is pleased to announce the 2nd Female Composers' Festival, chaired by pianist Shiau-uen Ding.

The Festival is planned for the following days in March 2019:

Friday 22 March
Saturday 23 March
Sunday 24 March

We are looking for proposals of programs that, not surprisingly, are filled with music written by women. We would like to provide a range of experiences, focusing (as usual) on the music of the 20th and 21st Centuries, and also hopefully having some significant early-music presence as well. For the latter, Hildegard von Bingen is an obvious choice (and indeed an acceptable one), but the less-obvious is distinctly welcome.

Spectrum concerts are usually single-set events of 35 - 55 minutes in length. Proposed programs do not need to fit exactly with this format, but there should be good a reason for doing otherwise (e. g., an ambitiously-long piece). Please note that Spectrum may not have access to a piano at the time of the festival.

Please submits proposals for programs to Shiau-uen Ding at by midnight January 28.

Please also feel free to propose less-obvious names for the Festival.
